Jehovah was not in the wind. And after the wind, an earthquake: Jehovah was not in the earthquake.
And after the earthquake, a fire: Jehovah was not in the fire. And after the fire, a soft gentle voice. (1Kings 19:11-12)

Five Minute Friday: Ordinary

It's Friday!! And I am linking up with Five Minute Friday at Lisa-Jo's place.

Officially, the rules are:

Five Minute Friday1. Write for 5 minutes (A few weeks ago, I made this confession that I don't always exactly keep to the five minutes. )
2. Link up at Lisa-Jo's  and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community...

And the Five Minute Friday prompt for this week is : Ordinary

*****

I woke on an ordinary Thursday morning, turned off the music that was coming from my alarm clock and I sat up although I wanted to roll over and grab just five more minutes.

Instead, I put my feet out on the cold February morning wood floor and took a peek outside my curtain. It was only a peek, but I could see the snow had made a marvelous transformation outside. At the breaking of dawn the beauty became crystal clear. The snow had alighted on the bare trees like lace and the tapestry was stunning.

It was ordinary snow displaying extra-ordinary beauty.

That is how it works.

Isaiah was told to pick up an ordinary pen to write an extra-ordinary message.

Peter and John were ordinary men but they performed the miraculous and preached extra-ordinary words that brought life.

What seems ordinary, with no special significance, God will use. For His thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His ways are far beyond our imagination and His love is as high as the heavens are above the earth for those that fear Him.

And He takes the ordinary and makes a beautiful display of extra-ordinary.

For as we look to the ordinary tree that was made into a cross we see an extra-ordinary display of love that takes our breath away; Love descended to hang there and transforms what is ugly into something beautiful.

  2. Hi Rebekah
In my country South Africa, February and March are the hottest months of the year!! So I truly appreciate the beauty of your winter. Even during winter we never get snow where I live. It s only in the high lying areas of South Africa where it snows during winter. So your ordinary to me is extra-ordinary in its beauty! The photos are stunning. Your words remind me so much of how our Pappa God works beauty out of the ordinary of ashes, strength out of our ordinary weakness! Happy FMF and a blessed weekend.
