Jehovah was not in the wind. And after the wind, an earthquake: Jehovah was not in the earthquake.
And after the earthquake, a fire: Jehovah was not in the fire. And after the fire, a soft gentle voice. (1Kings 19:11-12)

Meet Rebekah

Welcome. I am so glad you have stopped by my little place here. I hope that you are encouraged as I share my story and hope that you may be bold to share what God is doing in your life too.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I am a follower of Christ. I have been redeemed by His grace.
I want to love Him more.

I have been married for 21 years to the wonderful man I fell in love with the first time I saw him ~ when I was still a teen.

We have three beautiful children ~ a darling first born daughter, a dazzling middle son, and a delightful 'not-so baby anymore' little girl that we have the privilege of home educating in a small rural community in Ontario, Canada.

Our lives, although plain-vanilla, are rich and sprinkled with love and grace. Our days are filled with rhythms and routines of living and learning. Curiously discovering about God and His world. Learning to love and live authentically.

Life seems to get overwhelming at times. So, I am slowly learning to listen for the Soft Gentle Voice of God even in the midst of the inharmonious times in our days.

I am a pediatric cancer survivor living with long-term effects. Living a life after cancer has always had its challenges, but God has been and is and will always be faithful. His grace is sufficient and truly amazing.

I enjoy reading, baking, creating, seeing new places, staying at home, watching the sun set, spending time with my husband, hiking, drinking good coffee on quiet mornings, making yummy food and hearing my son say he thinks I should sell it, snuggling up on the coach with my children and reading to them.

I am thankful to God that He has written my story and has engraved me in the palms of His hands.

Because He Lives,

Rebekah Hughes

  1. Rebekah thanks so much for sharing your story. "Our lives, although plain-vanilla, are rich and sprinkled with love and grace." I love that. As a new mom I've been eagerly searching for blogs to follow that will encourage me in my mothering. I'm really looking forward to following your blog :)

    1. I am so glad you are here Victoria. I pray you will be encouraged and will seek God's wisdom and keep the Gospel at the centre of your mothering. It is such a humbling blessing to pour our lives into our children. May our words and lives point to the One who has formed them and loved them beyond what we could ever imagine.

  2. Rebekah, I am working on the draft of a book and would love to include your story...I would like to tell you more in an email. Will you email me?

  3. Rebekah, I love your blog. :) It is so beautiful! I look forward to reading through it more tonight after the children go to bed. It was so nice to meet you today!

  4. amazing story and I love that picture, it is so full of tenderness.

  5. Rebekah, I'm excited to find your blog today. We have a lot of common interests and I really relate to what you wrote about life getting overwhelming at times and learning to listen for the soft, gentle voice of God. I look forward to browsing around and reading more as time permits. :)

  6. Plain vanilla is an under-rated flavor of life... and ice cream :) I can't wait until life for us becomes a little less 'rocky road' and we can obtain a more natural routine. That will come with time though.

Prayers for your journey with cancer, and what a blessing that you share the insight and encouragement on here that I've seen so far :)
