Jehovah was not in the wind. And after the wind, an earthquake: Jehovah was not in the earthquake.
And after the earthquake, a fire: Jehovah was not in the fire. And after the fire, a soft gentle voice. (1Kings 19:11-12)

Hope in the Darkness: The Presence of the Light {Meditations of My Heart Mondays}

“In me there is darkness,
But with You there is light;
I am lonely, but You do not leave me;
I am feeble in heart, but with You there is help;
I am restless, but with You there is peace.
In me there is bitterness, but with You there is patience;
I do not understand Your ways,
But You know the way for me.”

“Lord Jesus Christ,
You were poor
And in distress, a captive and forsaken as I am.
You know all man’s troubles;
You abide with me
When all men fail me;
You remember and seek me;
It is Your will that I should know You
And turn to You.
Lord, I hear Your call and follow;
Help me.”

~Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Letters and Papers from Prison

A Soft Gentle Voice

  1. This was so eloquently beautiful. Bonhoeffer was one of the true heroes of the faith. These words almost sound like a psalm.

    Yes, in every moment of darkness, the Son shines His Presence.

    GOD BLESS!

    1. Sharon, thank you for coming over. I appreciated Bonhoeffer's words and am eternally grateful for the Word that became flesh and that His life is the light of men.

  2. I live Bonhoeffer's writings. So profoundly deep. So thankful He shines through all of the areas of darkness in my life.

    1. He does! And to think we may reflect His light! May our faces shine as we behold Him.
